The Speaker, Josephine Wallace was welcomed by the President.  Using a wide variety of flowers and foliage, Josephine created five beautiful arrangements, beginning with a basket for a coffee table which could be viewed 'in the round'. Next came a very elegant tall vase with Easter lilies, pussy willow, bear grass and aspidistra leaves. A goldfish bowl filled with yellow sisal came next, topped by a ring of twigs surrounding the flowers. This was completed with yellow tulle and a nest of candle eggs. A table centre placed on a mirror, consisting of a silvered glass vase followed, topped with long stemmed white gerbera bound with green ribbon, the base filled with green carnations and hellebore. A dramatic arrangement in yellow with gerbera and roses was much admired, as was a glass bowl with white tulle in it, complemented by an imaginative array of purple and pink and white flowers. Despite saying she had had a bad day, Josephine was her usual entertaining self.

Jenny Cressey thanked her for the beautiful display and the many hints and tips she had given.

A bouquet and card was sent to Sally Dewberry, who is to marry on Saturday - the first marriage of a member in living memory!
