Winteringham W.I. March 2007
At the Annual Meeting of Winteringham W.I. the retiring president, Mrs Jackie Bateman welcomed 26 members. Two of Winteringham’s own members were the demonstrators for the evening.
They had brought along a number of very beautiful cards which they had made and they had obviously put a lot of time and effort into producing the packs for members to use. Under their expert guidance at the end of the evening each member was able to take home two of their own cards of which they were justifiably proud.
The Annual Meeting Business was dealt with. There was no vote for committee as only ten members had accepted nomination and it was unanimously agreed that Mrs Chris Wood should be the new president.
Mrs Bateman announced the winners of the most points gained in the competitions during the year. Gift Vouchers were presented to Mrs Barbara Ashton and Mrs Christine Hammond.
This month’s competition was for a pretty mug. These were judged by the members placing a coin against their favourite. In first place was Carol Cook, second Christine Hammond and third equal Annie Armstrong and Jenny Pike.
At the last meeting, members had agreed that, instead of holding a Coffee Morning this year, at the close of the Annual Meeting fund raising would take place for the Meningitis Trust Appeal. The ladies were able to purchase tickets for the special prize draw and also to make their purchases from the Bring and Buy Stall. The treasurer announced that £100 had been raised, which would be sent to the Trust.
