March 2008

At the Annual Meeting of Winteringham W.I. the president, Mrs Chris Wood welcomed members. The demonstrator for the evening was Josephine Wallace who showed the members how to make some beautiful arrangements of Spring flowers.

The Annual Meeting Business was dealt with. There was no vote for committee as only ten members had accepted nomination and it was unanimously agreed that Mrs Chris Wood should be the new president.

Mrs Wood announced the winner of the most points gained in the competitions during the year. A Gift Voucher was presented to Mrs Margaret Ward. A presentation was also made to Mrs Jackie Bateman who has retired after many years of serving on the committee and also as one of the officers for Winteringham W.I.

This month’s competition was for a Floral Mug. The mugs were judged by Josephine. In first place was Enid Carter, second Karen Moody and third Margaret Burton.

At the last meeting, members had agreed that, instead of holding a Coffee Morning this year, at the close of the April Meeting fund raising would take place for the Meningitis Trust Appeal. Josephine very kindly donated her floral arrangements and a special raffle was held at the close of this meeting to help raise funds for this appeal.
