A list was sent round for members to fill in if they wished to go. At the end of the meeting a draw will be made for the tickets.

Tickets were on sale for the Carol Service is at Messingham on Wednesday 5th December.
The president explained about the problems with our original booking for the Annual Dinner. The new venue is The Hope and Anchor at South Ferriby. Twenty five members expressed a wish to attend
Chris Wood then introduced the speaker for the evening - Naomi Bacon who told the members about her experiences whilst “Cycling in Cuba”.
Naomi explained that she had replied to an advert for volunteers to go cycling around Cuba to raise funds for Denman College. She had bought along a video of her trip so members were able to see the terrain and the countryside. There were 32 ladies and one man undertaking the sponsored cycle ride and they had a back up team to look after them. All of the Cuban members of this team were employed by the government and they had been allowed to take a holiday for the privilege of looking after the W.I. Team
The people of Cuba were very friendly and there was music and dancing wherever the team went. Usually during the day it was very hot but when they got up into mountains it became quite cold. At the highest point the W.I. Team had stopped and sung Jerusalem.
When they had finished their cycling tour they had spent two days sight seeing in Havana. Naomi ended by thanking Winteringham W.I. for the money which the members had sent to help to sponsor her trip. Sandra Wilkinson gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the members
The hostesses Jenny Pike and Karen Moody served the members with tea and coffee.
The competition for An Unusual Wineglass had attracted a number of entries. The winner was Carol Smith 2nd Sandra Wilkinson and equal 3rd Jean McAvoy & Nancy Corney.
Next meeting is the Annual Dinner at the Hope and Anchor on Thursday 13th December. There will not be a meeting in the hall in December.
