The Vice President, Mrs Sandra Wilkinson of Winteringham W.I. was in the chair at the September meeting. She welcomed 17 members and 1 guest.
Matters arising from previous meetings were discussed. These included the envelopes for unwanted jewellery for Heart Research which will be taken in to Federation Office next week. The correspondence received was read through by the secretary and the latest copy of Federation News was perused.
Tickets were on sale for the Autumn Meeting of the Trent Group. This is on Tuesday 23rd October when the speaker will be the Housekeeper from Chatsworth House. Members were reminded that at this meeting tickets will be on sale for the group’s trip to Chatsworth House on Saturday 1st December.
This year the Christmas Shopping Trip will be to Nottingham on 17th November and the Annual Dinner on Thursday 13th December will once again be held at The Loft in Brigg.
Sandra then introduced Mrs Barbara Black, the co-coordinator/trainer of the Lives group in Winterton. Barbara told the ladies about LIVES and about the local group. She showed the ladies her kit which included a defibulator and she explained how/when this is used. Several of the members accepted Barbara’s invitation to ‘have a go’ with Resusci Anne.
Jackie Bateman gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the members. She said that hopefully the basic advice given by Barbara would give the ladies the confidence to respond if ever this was necessary.
The Mystery Parcels given by Chris Wood and Anne Carnaby were won by Mrs Pam Wells and Mrs Lorraine Dhillon.
The competition was for ‘A charity shop find’. The winner was Nancy Corney, 2nd Christine Hammond and 3rd Val Hayton.
The next meeting is will be on Thursday 18th October when celebrations will be held to mark the 80th Anniversary of the formation of an institute in the village.
