Federation Newsletter
July issue asked us not to stick computer generated minutes in a book as glue has bad effects on paper over time and it would be a shame if minutes were lost to future members. Accordingly, we are now keeping sheets in plastic sheets in a file and will archive them in brown labeled envelopes when the file gets too full.

Finances Mrs Lancaster was not present at the meeting.

News Slot Brochures for events at the Ropewalk and Waters’ Edge were available for members.
Another Evening with the Burgage Band will take place at the Village Hall on Sat 24 October.
Lincolnshire Lasses will be at the Village Hall on Thursday 29 October: retailing gift, cards and much more. Posters will be up soon for both these events.

The Speaker for the evening was Josephine Wallace on Autumn Flowers. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed watching as Josephine demonstrated the creation of five superb flower arrangements following the theme. Using greenery from her garden and carefully chosen autumnal coloured flowers, Josephine chatted and arranged sunflowers and reeds for the hall, a modern creation with silvered twigs in two tall black vases for the dining table, orange roses and hypericum in a smaller low dish for the coffee table, a dramatic pedestal with passion flowers and burgundy carnations was prepared for the fire place and finally a mostly green pedestal appeared for the sitting room.

A vote of thanks was given by Pam Wells who said that everyone envied Josephine her wonderful artistry and that we could always be sure of a large number of members at the hall on the night that she visited us.

The hostesses for the evening were Jenny Pike, Karen Moody and Sue Bolton who also provided the mystery parcels, which were won by Josephine’s mum, Josie Ogg and Josephine herself. The flower arrangements generously donated by Josephine were won by Mary Nuttell, Mary Christoffersen, Jackie Bateman, Sandra Wilkinson, Val Hayton and Janet Campbell.
The competition for an unusual soft toy was won by 1st Marianne Ogg, 2nd Heather Bateman and 3rd Jean McAvoy.

Next meeting is birthday night on Thursday 15 October  Hand Bell Ringing
